Welcome to the LWV
of Saginaw County

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, has fought since 1920 to improve our systems of government and impact public policies through citizen education and advocacy. The League's enduring vitality and resonance comes from its unique decentralized structure.

The League of Women Voters is strictly nonpartisan; it neither supports nor opposes candidates for office at any level of government. At the same time, the League is wholeheartedly political and works to influence policy through advocacy. It is the original grassroots citizen network, directed by the consensus of its members nationwide.

Opportunity Is Knocking!

The LWVUS Nominating Committee is still accepting nominations for the 2010-2012 LWVUS Board and Nominating Committee. Serving the League at the national level is a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional growth. LWVUS Board Member Carolie Mullan (now in her third term) writes:

Being on the LWVUS Board has been challenging, stimulating, exciting and educational. It has been life-changing for me – now I feel I can do anything! I only wish the opportunity could have come earlier in my life. I also wish that every League member could have this experience and I urge you to take that first easy step. Get someone to nominate you or nominate yourself.

The Nominating Committee urges you to think about what this experience could do for you. If you want more information about serving the League at the national level, go to nominating committee’s page where you’ll find FAQs about being an LWVUS Board member, criteria that will be used to evaluate nominees, the Nominating Committee’s schedule, and nomination forms – both hard copy and on-line.

It’s important to note that the Nominating Committee will build the 2010-2012 slate only from those names submitted by members like you. You are, in effect, a nominating committee. We hope you will consider nominating yourself or a League leader you admire. The postmark deadline for nominations is September 30. We look forward to hearing from you!
